Winters! That time of the year when your skin and hair need maximum attention and care. The cold weather creates havoc to your skin, lips and hair. Your skin becomes absolutely dry and rough, your hair becomes brittle causing dandruff and hairfall , your lips become chapped and start peeling. To deal with these problems can become a wee bit frustrating. To top it all, spa treatments usually cost a lot and their results last only a few days. That’s where home remedies and treatments come in. They are really pocket friendly and have lasting effects. You can do these in the comfort of your home (and your pjs!) Here are some DIY treatments you can add to your winter skin and haircare regimen:

  • 3-4 drops of jojoba oil
  • 1 tsp of honey
What to do:
In a small bowl, add the sugar, jojoba oil and honey and mix until it’s combined well. Add a few squirts of lemon juice and mix. Rinse your lips to remove any makeup or residue from food and apply the scrub all over, rubbing gently in circular motions. Wet a cloth or towel with warm water and remove the scrub. Follow with a hydrating balm to keep lips protected and replenish moisture. Your lips will be ready for their spring debut in no time.

Quick tips:
  • Do not take hot water baths or showers as it tends to dry the skin and hair. Stick to lukewarm water and keep your showers short.
  • Sleep in satin or silk sheets and pillow cases as cotton ones causes skin dryness, hair damage and accelerates skin ageing.
  • Use sunscreen even during winters.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Avoid using excess of soaps as it dries out skin. Use moisturizing cleanser instead.
